Important Recipe Notes

Christmas Cornflake Wreaths
  • Work quickly: The marshmallow mixture can start to firm up as it cools, so shape the wreaths while the mixture is still warm and easy to handle.
  • Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray to keep the sticky cereal mixture from clinging to your fingers while shaping the wreaths.
  • Use gel food coloring: Green gel food coloring gives the wreaths a bright color without adding too much liquid to the marshmallow mixture.
  • Line a baking sheet or sturdy cutting board with parchment or wax paper before you start shaping the wreaths.
  • Use about 1/3 cup of the mixture for each wreath. You can make them smaller or larger depending on your preference.
  • Add the red candies right away: Press the red hot candies onto each wreath while the mixture is still sticky so they stay in place.
  • Allow the wreaths to cool and firm up completely before serving or storing them.
