Start by cutting out four star shapes and a few snowflakes from the apple. Remember, apple slices can brown quickly, so sprinkle them with a little lemon juice to keep them looking fresh.
Soak the star-shaped apple pieces in a cup of water mixed with red food coloring for about 15 minutes. After soaking, gently blot them dry with a paper towel.
Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Arrange seven pretzels in a circle to form a wreath. Repeat this process to create three more wreaths, spacing them out on the baking sheet.
Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Using a pastry syringe or a teaspoon, drizzle the melted chocolate in a swirling pattern over the pretzels. Place additional pretzels on top of the chocolate, aligning them so they fit into the gaps of the lower layer. Drizzle more chocolate over the top layer of pretzels.
While the chocolate is still soft, place the apple stars and snowflakes onto the wreaths. Sprinkle with colored sprinkles, coconut flakes, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Add the viburnum berries for a pop of color and a touch of natural beauty.
Let the decorated wreaths cool in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. This will allow the chocolate to harden and set properly.
Once set, transfer the wreaths to a festive tray dusted with powdered sugar. Now you’re ready to serve these charming, edible decorations at your holiday gathering!
