How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Bear Paw Cookies

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir the cake mix, oil, and eggs until combined. Cover and chill dough for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop the dough and place onto the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Step 3: Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until desired doneness.
Remove from the oven and then immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into the lower half of the cookie.

Step 4: Add 3 semi-sweet chocolate chips above it, with the chocolate curl on the chocolate chips facing the peanut butter cup.

Step 5: Repeat with the rest of the cookies. Allow to cool for 15-30 minutes. Enjoy!
Important Recipe Notes

- Chill the dough: Chilling the dough for 30 minutes makes it easier to scoop and helps keep the cookies from spreading too much while baking. You can skip this step, but the cookies may turn out flatter.
- Add the peanut butter cups right away: Press one Reese’s mini peanut butter cup into each cookie as soon as it comes out of the oven. The warm cookies make it easier to press the candy into place.
- Make the bear paw claws: Place 3 semi-sweet chocolate chips above each peanut butter cup, with the pointed ends facing the candy to create the look of little bear claws.
- You can use your favorite cake mix or cookie dough flavor to change the taste and color of the cookies.
- Switch the candies: Replace the Reese’s mini peanut butter cups with Rolos, peppermint patties, Hershey’s Kisses, or chocolate candy melts.
- If you don’t have chocolate chips, try sliced almonds, peanut butter chips, or Junior Mints for the claws.
- Allow the cookies to cool for 15–30 minutes before serving so the chocolate and peanut butter cups can set.
